Fallon Health Launches Prescription Savings Program for Medicare Advantage Members
Becomes First Health Plan in Massachusetts to Offer Rx Savings Solutions to Medicare Beneficiaries
Worcester, Mass., January 7, 2021— Fallon Health today announced a new, easy-to-use transparency tool designed to help members save money on prescription medications. Beginning January 1, 2021, eligible members of Fallon Medicare Plus Medicare Advantage plans will have access to Rx Savings Solutions, a free, optional tool which will allow them to quickly and easily see the lowest-price options for their prescriptions.
A nationally recognized not-for-profit health care services organization, Fallon Health will become the only health plan in Massachusetts to offer Rx Savings Solutions to the Medicare population. On average, members who switch to lower-cost options save $40 out-of-pocket per fill.
“The rising cost of prescription drugs can have a serious impact on the personal finances of our Medicare Advantage members. And navigating the complex pharmacy system can be challenging,” said Carolyn Langer, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for Fallon Health. “Collaborating with Rx Savings Solutions provides greater transparency that makes it much easier for our Medicare Advantage members to find more affordable medications that are clinically effective.”
With the program, members can:
- See prescription suggestions and lower-cost options available to them
- Access certified pharmacy technicians for personal and confidential help over the phone or by email
- Receive notifications via email, text or mail when new savings opportunities are available
- Request that a member of the Rx Savings Solutions team work directly with the prescribing physician to ensure the efficacy and appropriateness of the alternate drug, and to facilitate a new prescription
Rx Savings Solutions uses patented algorithms to look for all possible clinical therapies and financial savings opportunities. Rx Savings Solutions is HIPAA-compliant, and all interactions between the software platform and member is confidential.

Eligible members will be auto-enrolled in the program, but will have to activate their account to receive notifications. That can be accomplished by visiting myfallon.org/rxss and following the directions on screen. Members can also call 1-800-325-5669 (TRS 711), Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. (Oct. 1–March 31, 8 a.m.–8 p.m., seven days a week).
