Fallon Health Accepting Grant Applications for COVID-19 Recovery Efforts
Community Impact funding priorities for 2021 include food insecurity and social isolation among seniors
Worcester, Mass., April 5, 2021―Fallon Health, a mission-focused, community-based not-for-profit health care services organization, today announced applications for its Community Impact Grant program are being accepted. In 2021, Fallon will award $100,000 in grants to help fund innovative community-based programs that support areas or populations that are particularly vulnerable to food insecurity as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic or that provide services to seniors that overcome or mitigate social isolation. The application period will close at 5 p.m., April 30, 2021, with grants announced and awarded in September 2021.
“While vaccine rollout efforts are helping to make significant progress in the fight against COVID-19, Fallon recognizes that the impacts of the current health care crisis will likely linger for some time, especially for our most vulnerable members,” said Fallon Health President and CEO Richard Burke. “It is our hope that these grants help ease some of the financial constraints our community partners are facing as they work to address issues of hunger and loneliness among older adults.”
Eligible projects include new programs or the expansion of existing programs that serve targeted populations across Fallon’s service area with a focus on the following counties: Berkshire, Middlesex and Worcester. Individual grants are typically in the $10,000 to $20,000 range.
Fallon Health established its formal Community Impact Grants (formerly Community Benefits Grants) Program in 2004, providing nearly $2 million to local organizations along the way.
The annual program is aligned with guidelines from the Mass. Attorney General’s Office. Last year, 10 organizations received grants that totaled $100,000. The organizations were selected from a competitive pool of 80 applicants.
Organizations meeting the criteria are encouraged to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI). Fallon’s Community Impact Committee, a group that includes external stakeholders, will review the LOI’s and invite a select number of organizations back in June to submit full applications.
