Fallon Health to Honor its Health Care Heroes at Polar Park

Frontline staff to attend the Worcester Red Sox home opener on May 11

Worcester, MA, May 6, 2021— Fallon Health, a community-based, not-for-profit health care services organization and a founding partner of the Worcester Red Sox, today announced that it will recognize the commitment and efforts of some of its frontline staff by giving them tickets to the May 11, 2021, opening game at Polar Park. The employees selected for this special day represent just some of Fallon’s dedicated workforce from its Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which is known as Summit ElderCare.

“Over the last 14 months, our Summit ElderCare team has been there for our participants. They have stayed connected to them, caring for them through phone calls and home visits. They have sent cards and activity packets to help them overcome feelings of isolation and loneliness. They have kept them comfortable and safe at our Grove Street infirmary and our COVID recovery center. And most recently, they have administered vaccines to many of them—an important step in bringing a pre-pandemic normalcy back to their lives. The opportunity for some of them to attend the opening day game is a small way for our organization to say thank you,” said Richard Burke, President and CEO of Fallon Health.

Since becoming the first corporate sponsor of the Club in September 2018, Fallon and the WooSox have fostered a strong relationship on and off the field. The two organizations continue to work closely on ways to engage and support fans, by way of Fallon Health Square and Fallon Family Funday Sundays, as well as the broader community, through the Strike Out Hunger Campaign.

“We are thrilled to see that our friends at Fallon Health are inviting front line heroes from Summit Eldercare to Opening Day at Polar Park,” said WooSox President Dr. Charles A. Steinberg. “The pandemic has reminded us of the vital, life-preserving heroism of those who conscientiously care for our elders. Particularly at a time when loved ones have been unable to see their parents or grandparents in person, even just to touch them or to give them a smile, it has brought comfort to so many to know that compassionate caregivers have been a conduit to that shared love. We are honored to have these front line heroes at Opening Day, and we thank Fallon Health for extending this gift to those who so deserve a day in the sunlight and spotlight.”
