Fallon Health pledges $25,000 to "Worcester Together" to address COVID-19 community needs
Mini-grants also available to support immediate community needs
Worcester, Mass., March 26, 2020 ― Fallon Health, a mission-focused, community-based not-for-profit health care services organization, today announced steps to mobilize support for the community in the wake of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Fallon is pledging $25,000 to aid those impacted in the Worcester, Massachusetts area.
The funds will go directly to "Worcester Together," a joint fund led by the Greater Worcester Community Foundation and United Way of Central Massachusetts that will address immediate basic needs and long-term local relief efforts.
“COVID-19 has impacted nearly every aspect of our daily lives, leaving many in difficult situations. Working with key stakeholders, Fallon is proud to have a seat at the table and to be part of the solution. It is our hope that these funds extend the outreach while helping us fulfill our mission of making our communities healthy," said Richard Burke, President and CEO of Fallon Health, noting that additional relief efforts will also be focused across the state.
Fallon also announced emergency funds will be available beginning Monday, March 30, through mini-grants to meet the evolving needs of the most vulnerable members of the community. Organizations that support food insecurity response efforts—including local pantries and volunteer task forces—as well as senior isolation and support services are encouraged to apply through Fallon's online grant making program at fallonhealth.org/community. A response will be provided within 72 business hours of the request.
"Helping people of all ages, income levels and health statuses is important to our mission at Fallon. We're taking our commitment to another level by organizing volunteers to respond to the emerging needs and to lift everyone up during this time of uncertainty," said Kimberly Salmon, Director of Community Relations and Engagement for Fallon Health.
