Fallon Health names Michael G. Nickey to newly created position of Vice President of State Programs
Worcester, Mass., January 30, 2019 — Fallon Health, a nationally recognized not-for-profit health care services organization, today announced that Michael G. Nickey has been selected to fill the newly created position of Vice President of State Programs.
The new position and the selection of Nickey reflect Fallon’s leadership and growth in state government programs. Nickey has been leading Fallon’s participation in the Commonwealth’s MassHealth Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program, part of a reform of the state’s Medicaid program designed to improve care and reduce costs. His responsibilities will now also include oversight of Fallon’s participation in the state’s ConnectorCare program as well as identifying, developing and implementing other opportunities in the government market.
Nickey has more than 15 years of experience in health care, most of them focused on the government market. Before being named to his new position, he was Executive Director of MassHealth Programs at Fallon.
Prior to joining Fallon in 2013, Nickey was the Medicaid strategist for CVS Caremark, the prescription benefit management subsidiary of CVS. From 2005 to 2011, Nickey held positions at Neighborhood Health Plan, including Director of Product Strategy, where he focused on the procurement, development and management of the organization’s business lines related to the Commonwealth Connector. Nickey also previously served as Manager, New Product Development Medicare Part D, for Medco Health Solutions.
Nickey holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University, a Master’s from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
