Understanding Medicare
Whether you are just turning 65, or you have been on Medicare for years, the Medicare program can be confusing. There is a lot to know—and it’s important to understand all of your options so you can choose the coverage that’s right for you.

What is Medicare?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program that covers medical and hospital expenses.
Am I eligible?
You are eligible for Medicare if you are:
- Age 65 or older
- Under age 65 with certain disabilities
- Any age with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), which is permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant
